Winter Shield was created by three business owners who all were in the construction/roofing industry and were constantly being asked to install heat cable.
While none of them offered that, after sharing their similar experience with the requests, the three decided to start a company to solve the problem of ice dams in North Idaho. Through a very steep learning curve and lots of humble pie, the company was moved forward by one of the original three and years later has become the premier heat cable installer in the region.

The company is run today by Founder/CEO Daniel Ford, whose entrepreneurial and operational background has led to the company’s rapid growth. With his leadership and insistence on doing every job the right way the first time, Winter Shield has quickly gained a reputation for industry leading excellence both in the commercial and residential spaces for heat cable installation.
Constant Improvement
Working closely with vendors and manufacturers, Winter Shield has helped improve product performance and material longevity, and has even invented specialized tooling for improved installation efficiency.
Protecting Homes & Businesses
Personally, Daniel is a father of four and husband to his incredible wife Kristin. Together they are raising their children in the beauty and wild adventure of North Idaho. Part of his personal belief is that homes and properties should enable and enrich lives, so running a business that strives to protect the homes and businesses in this community is both personal and meaningful to the staff at Winter Shield.
